Ariel and Alex’s Gloucester Wedding

Ariel and Alex met in March of 2012 on spring break of their senior year of college. Over the next four years their romance blossomed and in December 2016 after a romantic dinner at the Captain Linnell House on Cape Cod, Alex proposed beach side. Spoiler alert, she said yes!

The inspiration for Ariel and Alex’s wedding came from their love of the ocean. They wanted a classic and traditional feel. The Beaport Hotel perfectly fit that vision and Katydyd Events helped bring it to life! Bringing in gold and navy elements helped elevate their decor and emphasize the traditional feel of their wedding day celebrations. Vintage gold mirrors were hand-lettered by the bride and set an elegant tone to the festivities. Emphasizing both the bride and the groom’s heritage, the couple was married in a Catholic ceremony at St. Ann in Gloucester, and at their reception, they served traditional Greek food, had Greek dancing, and their first dance ended with the Greek tradition of showering the happy couple in money.

The bride’s classic lace Romona Keveza fit and flare lace dress with long sleeves was a showstopper! Wearing her Mother’s cathedral length veil, the bride had her something borrowed right out in the open for all the guests to admire. Ariel also wore her mother’s opal ring and had photo charms of her two grandfathers tied to her bouquet.
